Yoga and Ayurveda
Our bodies are intuitively attuned with the earth’s natural rhythm—our inner universe is inherently harmonized with the outer universe that surrounds us. Yoga and Ayurveda teach us to be fully present and engaged as we shift seasons and open to new perspectives. How we move, how we breathe, and what we eat can help us embrace this transitional time of the year.
YWK Yoga Classes are a mix of different styles to ensure balance of all the 3 ayurvedic doshas in the body. The class type changes with seasons to balance ayurvedic doshas as the seasons change.

Ayurveda Dosha FAQs
What is an Ayurveda Body Type (Dosha)?
In Ayurveda, the ‘bioenergy’ elemental constitution of a person is the starting point for all healing treatments. This basic nature or constitution (prakruti) expresses itself physically in the DNA, through manifestation of the three doshas (bioenergies or life forces): vata, pitta, and kapha. Since birth, every person has had the underlying characteristics related to their prakruti, also called the Ayurveda Body type. As we grow, we get influenced by our environment and these energies start to fall out of balance, leading to physical, mental and emotional illnesses.
Which Ayurveda Body Types Are There?
A total of 10 different Ayurveda types can be distinguished with the Ayurveda Test. When one of the Doshas is dominant, the constitution is either Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. The following combined forms are also possible: Vata-Pitta or Pitta-Vata, Vata-Kapha or Kapha-Vata, Pitta-Kapha or Kapha-Pitta as well as the balanced Vata-Pitta-Kapha (Tri-Dosha).
How Does the Ayurveda Tests Work?
Take the free Ayurvedic Dosha quiz/tests here. The Ayurveda test reveals which dosha or “bioenergy” is the strongest in you. The Ayurveda Dosha tests gather information about both your current nature & imbalances (vikruti) and the basic nature (prakriti) i.e. the way you were as a child or the basic patterns that have been true most of your life.
However, an Ayurveda test as a questionnaire or self-analysis cannot replace a detailed medical history (anamnesis) acquired by an experienced Ayurveda doctor. You should consider this if you are sick and would like to receive medical Ayurveda treatment.
Why Is Ayurveda So Important?
Ayurveda aims to create inner and outer balance, as a prerequisite for health, fitness, and happiness. Since one or two doshas are more prominent in the vast majority of people, creating this balance is crucial. If vata, pitta, and kapha keep flowing smoothly, we are healthy. If there are accumulations of one dosha or another, we get sick.
